Who runs this site

Mediation Guide is published by Family Legal Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16431127, and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under number ZC018853. Family Legal Ltd is the team behind Mediate UK and Family Law Service. Those sites have their own terms; these terms cover mediationguide.co.uk only.

Information, not legal advice

Everything on this site is general information about family mediation, separation and the family court in England and Wales. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship between you and Family Legal Ltd or anyone who writes for or reviews the site.

Your situation will have facts that no general guide can take into account. Before acting on anything you read here, particularly on anything involving money, children or court deadlines, please read our disclaimer and consider taking advice from a solicitor or an accredited family mediator.

Our free tools

The tools on this site, such as the calculators, checklists and planners, are provided free of charge and as they are, for general guidance only. Their outputs are estimates and starting points, not advice, valuations or recommendations for your specific circumstances. Court fees, eligibility rules and the law change, so always check current figures on gov.uk or with a professional before relying on a number a tool has produced.

Intellectual property

The content of this site, including its text, tables, tools and design, belongs to Family Legal Ltd or its licensors and is protected by copyright. You are welcome to read, print and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, and to quote short extracts elsewhere provided you credit Mediation Guide and link back to the page you quoted.

You may not republish substantial parts of the site, present our content as your own, or copy the site or its tools wholesale, whether manually or with automated scraping, without our written permission first.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the site lawfully and not to do anything that damages it or interferes with other people’s use of it. Our guides link to external sources such as gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk and the Family Mediation Council, because we cite what we say. We choose these links carefully, but we do not control other websites and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information. A link is a citation, not an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

We work hard to keep the site accurate, reviewed and up to date, but we provide it without any guarantee that it is complete, error free or continuously available. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute about them or about your use of the site, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
