Parenting plan

Definition: A parenting plan is a written agreement between parents covering how they will raise their children after separating.

It typically covers living arrangements, time with each parent, holidays, schooling, health and how decisions will be made. It is practical rather than legal.

A parenting plan is flexible and not enforceable by a court, unlike a child arrangements order. Many families reach one through mediation.
